Management Development Program
Program Description
The Jim's Formal Wear (JFW) Management Development Program (MDP) is designed to prepare candidates for a production management position in a JFW regional distribution center and to represent JFW to retailers and consumers in accordance with the compan''s reputation for superior customer service. This mission is accomplished through a comprehensive 10-12 month training regimen covering all facets of the JFW organization. Training is generally conducted in the Trenton, Illinois Service Center or by special arrangement through one of our other ten Service Centers nationwide (see list below).
Qualifications
The minimum academic requirement for enrollment in the Jim's Formal Wear Management Development Program is a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Although there is no specific degree major requirement, a business curriculum is preferred. Previous work experience in retail sales, apparel, or warehouse distribution is ideal, but not required. Additionally, candidates must be prepared to relocate upon program completion, and, depending on the specific management assignment, anticipate frequent travel.
Involvement
The MDP is divided into three major phases of development. The earliest phase of enrollment concentrates on basic skills of the production and customer service departments. Subsequent phases focus on the management responsibilities of production, dealer relations, quality assurance, and retail, as well as interaction with the corporate management staff. By the time the management candidate reaches the final phase of development, the candidate is expected to function independently with minimal supervision and participate in management planning meetings and decisions. Although most training is accomplished in one of the Regional Service Centers, the candidate will spend approximately two 1-2 week visits to other Service Centers and a retail store during program enrollment.
Length of Program
The time required in the MDP varies depending on previous work experience, performance, and company management needs. Typically, the program lasts approximately 10-12 months.
Program Administration
The Director, Human Resources will be the MDP advisor. The advisor will periodically counsel the candidate on progress and provide regularly scheduled performance feedback. Day-to-day training responsibility rests with the management and staff of the local Service Center.
Placement
The successful MDP candidate will be eligible for placement on the production management staff at a Jim's Formal Wear Service Center. Locations include:
Anderson, Indiana Pueblo, Colorado Trenton, Illinois
Atlanta, Georgia Richmond, Virginia Visalia, California

Candidates will also qualify for the company's bonus program, insurance benefits, company paid time off, tuition assistance, retirement programs, and other company benefits according to existing rules of eligibility.
