4 Ways to Upgrade your Wedding Tuxedo Style

Your wedding day is quickly approaching!  While most eyes will be on the bride’s walk down the aisle, her eyes will be on you. You’ll want to ensure she remembers your wedding style… from this day forward.  And now more than ever, grooms have the flexibility to make their wedding day tuxedo or suit their own.  It’s not just about a plain, black tux anymore.  Feel free to choose a tuxedo or suit that complements you and your bride’s style.  Here are four quick ways to upgrade your wedding style:

Find the Right Fit
Your wedding day will likely feel more like a marathon than a sprint, so you’ll want to be comfortable in the fit of your tuxedo or suit.  For a more modern look, choose a slim fit style for your wedding party. The slimmer lapels and narrower body will offer a flattering silhouette for every man in your party – including those guys that wear big and tall sizes.  If slim fit styles aren’t your thing… Jim’s Formal Wear offers modern or traditional fit tuxedos and suits as well.  You can take your pick!

Fabrics that Feel as Good as They Look
Let’s face it guys; what’s better than a long embrace from your bride-to-be.  She’ll love the way your first hug as husband and wife feels when you’re wearing a finer fabricated tuxedo.  Choose an upgraded fabric like Super 130’s or Super 100’s versus worsted wool for your wedding tuxedo.  You’ll feel more comfortable in the lightweight fabric.  And, the feel will be amazing… for both you and the bride.

Add Some Color
Planning a beach wedding or a garden locale for your nuptials?  Choose a tan, gray or slate blue tuxedo or suit to accentuate your wedding style.  Think about a white dinner jacket for your summer wedding.  Or, choose a charcoal gray or chocolate tux for your fall wedding.  Don’t be afraid to think outside the proverbial black tuxedo box.

Destination Wedding Attire for the Groom: Options to Rent

Like a traditional wedding, a destination wedding also involves a bit of planning. You’ll find yourself researching locations, logistics, travel expenses and many other things. One important aspect of the destination wedding you will be deciding on is the attire for the groom. We’re happy you came across this article because we can make some great destination wedding tuxedo and suit rental suggestions to help you decide.

One of our most popular destination wedding ensembles is the Lord West Tan Havana. Truly a suit, because there is no satin on the lapel which defines a tuxedo, the Havana is an excellent choice for any beach wedding. It’s light tan coloring means it will reflect the sun and be a cooler, comfortable style to wear. Plus, being a neutral color, you can accessorize it with a variety of colors. We have found light colors and pastels look the best.

Gray tuxedos remain very popular for weddings and certainly should be a color you consider for your destination wedding. One of our newest styles is the Gray Aspen. It’s a lightweight, medium gray, slim fit tuxedo featuring a slimmer notch lapel edged in fine satin. The Aspen tuxedo and matching pants can be rented with a coordinating fullback vest in gray – or – you can complement the tux with any number of colorful vests and ties.

Should you like the Gray Aspen Tuxedo’s styling, but were thinking of a darker color for your destination affair, the Slate Blue Aspen may be the tux to choose. Styled and tailored the same as the Gray Aspen, the Slate Blue Aspen is also a slim fit tuxedo with a narrower lapel and satin edging.

Slate Blue Aspen Slim Fit Tuxedo

The Slate Blue Aspen is identical in styling to the Gray Aspen, but could be the better choice for your destination wedding if you are looking for a darker color.

The Slate Blue Aspen is a beautiful tuxedo, particularly up close. You’ll love the fabric the coat and pants are tailored in. You can accessorize with a coordinating slate blue vest or any number of colorful fullback vests. We’re particularly fond of pastel colors with this style.

If your destination wedding is being held in a cooler climate where a darker tuxedo may be most appropriate, we would suggest renting the Tony Bowls Manhattan Slim Fit Tuxedo for your wedding party. The Manhattan is a great choice because it is tailored in Super 130′s wool for the most comfortable fit and feel available in any of our tuxedo styles. Your gentleman will love the fit and feel of this garment. Plus, being a slim fit style, it is very flattering and can be worn by many body types.

New Coats and Accessories Added to Jim’s Formal Wear Line

We are excited to show you the Tuxedos and Accessories recently added to our Formalwear line for Spring of 2014…

The Stephen Geoffrey Slate Blue Aspen Slim Fit Tuxedo
First up is the new Slate Blue Aspen, a tuxedo certain to turn heads because of its slim fit cut and beautiful color. The new Slate Blue Aspen is a tuxedo coat and matching pants tailored similarly to our very popular Stephen Geoffrey Gray Aspen Tuxedo  - which means it, like all of our slim fit styles, is a tux many men can wear and look great in. Plus, the slate blue fabric is exquisite in person and makes the tuxedo beautiful and rich in appearance. Our photography is great for this style, but it is a stunner when viewed first hand, trust me!

Flattering in appearance and cut, the Slate Blue Aspen is tailored in a beautiful fabric.

The Slate Blue Aspen looks very good when paired with pastel colored fullback vests. However, if you want to go for a more conservative 3-piece tuxedo look at your wedding, a matching fullback vest is available to match the Slate Blue Aspen:

For a true 3-piece look, you can wear the Slate Blue Aspen with a companion fullback vest.

The Camo Tux
And now for something completely different… The second new tuxedo we have added to our formalwear line is the Camo Tux. Camouflage is hot right now and so are camo-themed and rustic weddings. Having a tuxedo style to offer to the bride and groom who are planning this type of affair was a goal of ours for Spring of 2014.

When we conceived this style and worked with a manufacturer to produce it, we wanted the camo pattern to be somewhat subtle. We think we nailed it and created a tux with a classy use of the Mossy Oak camo pattern on the notch lapels and pocket trim.

You can always count on your Jim’s Formal Wear Retailer to have the right colors to complement your affair through your gentlemen’s tuxedos.

The Expressions Fullback Vest and Tie Collection comes in 27 solid colors and you can complement any Expressions vest you choose with a Solid Windsor Tie, a Striped Windsor Tie or a Bow Tie.

The Finishing Touch for your Gray Tuxedo: The Gray Allegro Formal Shoe
Lastly, gray tuxedos continue to be very popular for weddings and we offer a number of gray tuxedo styles including the Gray Aspen Tuxedo and the Gray Portofino Tuxedo.

However, we have received some requests for a gray formal shoe to complement those styles – in lieu of a gentleman having to wear a black shoe. Therefore, we’re happy to offer the Gray Allegro formal shoe. Both gray and black tuxedo shoes are appropriate with a gray tuxedo, it’s your decision.

Stephen Geoffrey Troy White Fulldress in White and Ivory
Nothing is more elegant than seeing a gentleman wearing a classic fulldress tuxedo and we are pleased to add the Stephen Geoffrey White Troy and Ivory Troy in 2013.  Also known as a ‘tailcoat’, this tuxedo style is typically worn by just the groom in a wedding party while the rest of the gentlemen wear a tuxedo.

White and ivory formalwear is popular in the South and warmer climates of the country and we receive a lot of requests for white and ivory tailcoats from those customers. We decided the year 2013 is the time to update our tailcoat styles in white and ivory.

And here is a look at the Stephen Geoffrey Ivory tailcoat, also shown with a classic Dot pattern cummerbund and bow tie.

Both the white and ivory fulldress styles have companion coats in the White Troy and Ivory Troy tuxedos, so coordinating the attire for the wedding party is a snap.
